Ashoka chakra


Ashoka was the last king of Maurya dynasty. Ashoka chakra signifies that he was most powerful and courageous ruler in India.The Ashoka Chakra is a depiction of the Dharma Chakra; a wheel represented with 24 spokes. It is so called because it appears on a number of edicts of Ashoka, most prominent among which is the Lion Capital of Ashoka.
The 24 spokes of the Ashok Chakra inspires every Indian to work tirelessly for 24 hours. Ashok Chakra is also called the wheel of duty. These 24 spokes represent 24 qualities of a person.
Emperor Ashoka popularized it and therefore it has commonly been known as Ashoka Chakra. It appears on many edicts of Ashoka. The most prominent is the Lion Capital of Ashoka.
